General Questions About Materials

What materials are used in your webbing?

Most of our webbing is made from nylon or polyester. We also weave high-performance technical fibres such as Aramid Fibres (Kevlar®), and High Modulus Polyethylene/HMPE fibres (Dyneema®)

Can webbing materials be treated or coated?

Yes. Webbing can be enhanced with specialised finishes, including water repellent, fire retardant, mould-resistant, antibacterial, polyurethane coatings, and stiffening agents. These treatments improve performance for specific industrial, safety, medical, defence, or outdoor applications.

How do I choose the right material for my application?

Choosing the right material depends on load requirements, environmental conditions, and safety standards. Contact us and speak to a member of our experienced team who will be able to assist you in choosing the right material for your application.

General Questions About Industry

What is webbing and what is it used for?

Webbing is a strong, woven narrow fabric made from materials such as polyester, nylon, High Modulus Polyethylene/HMPE fibres (Dyneema®) or Aramid Fibres (Kevlar®). It is used across a wide range of industries for lifting, cargo restraint, safety harnesses, outdoor gear, and other applications requiring strength, flexibility, and durability.

How is industrial webbing tested for safety?

Webbing undergoes rigorous testing for tensile strength, elongation, abrasion resistance, and dimensional accuracy. Manufacturers like Ribbons follow quality management systems such as ISO 9001:2015 to ensure each product meets strict industry and safety standards.

What factors should I consider when choosing webbing?

When selecting webbing, consider the material, strength, width, stretch, and environmental resistance. Different applications require different properties, such as cut-resistance, fire retardancy, or UV stability, to ensure performance and safety.
